There are many books for new parents. But the truth is, there really are no handbooks for parenting-you kind of learn as you go.

Every time I received an invitation to a baby shower, I purchased a card and really thought about what I wanted to say, something real, honest, helpful, but witty enough to bring a smile.  It was stressful!

So I sat down, but this time, armed with a large scratch pad, I scribbled several thoughts. I figured I could pick which one later. And I kept writing stuff down, the floodgate just seemed to open and all the comments I’ve made over the years, the observations and discussions with other parents, some of the real parenting things you experience just kind of came out. 

And then I realized, there is no card big enough for all of this and the new Mom would groan if she saw it, so,  why can’t I put all (okay, not all, but most) of those comments in a book, with blank pages so family and friends can add to it too?  Something fun, because let’s face it, parenting books are so big and there are so many it can feel overwhelming.

And so the book was created. But as I wrote I realized I wanted to share more than that.

Too many parents see only their child, instead of all children. I am hoping to expand their view in the way having a child expands their heart – and to create an awareness about the journey of parenthood: the circle it represents and that we are all in the circle.  The breadth of love is often overlooked or forgotten. This is a reminder

As for me, I am not an author NOR do I scrapbook.  I have a degree in Economics and Finance.  I’ve spent my life running numbers, dealing with auditors, and protecting the assets of companies. And then come home and work again to nurture and protect my little assets as a Mom and running a household.  I am hoping this book has an impact.
